NYCMode

One inventory truth across Shopify and every marketplace it sells on.

NYCMode is a multi-location New York streetwear retailer that sells through its own Shopify storefront and a stack of online marketplaces, and Eyal Gantz is its lead engineer and fractional CTO. Selling the same limited stock across a storefront, several locations, and multiple marketplaces is a recipe for overselling, and overselling means cancelled orders and damaged trust. Stock, pricing, and fulfillment had to stay truthful in near-real time across every channel, without anyone reconciling spreadsheets by hand. Gantz built and runs the custom Laravel application on AWS through Laravel Vapor that keeps all of it in sync. It treats the SkuVault warehouse system as the single source of truth and pushes inventory to Shopify the moment it changes: location aware, HMAC verified, and only writing when a number actually moved. The same catalog then fans out to ChannelAdvisor, ShipStation, QuickBooks, and Klaviyo, with a Horizon and SQS queue absorbing spikes.

Challenge

What problem did NYCMode have?

Selling the same limited stock across a storefront, multiple locations, and several marketplaces is a recipe for overselling, and overselling means cancelled orders and damaged trust. Stock, pricing, and fulfillment had to stay truthful in near-real time across every channel, without anyone reconciling spreadsheets by hand.

Solution

How did Eyal solve it?

A custom Laravel application on AWS (Vapor) treats the warehouse system as the single source of truth and pushes inventory to Shopify the moment it changes: location-aware, HMAC-verified, only writing when a number actually moved. From there the same catalog fans out to marketplaces and into fulfillment and accounting, with a Horizon-managed queue absorbing spikes.
